Super
Super is a short film that combines live action film with animation. This was a multi-semester project that was created and produced by the digital media students of Kendall College of Art and Design. The main purpose behind the project was to try and combine as many of the covered disciplines in the digital media curriculum into one spectacular piece that really shows what the Kendall digital media students can do.

I came into the project toward the end of the middle half. We still had a lot of the special effects to complete, the animation of the last several scenes, as well as a lot of polishing. One of the things that really stuck out to my class was how the animated scenes really clashed with the live action.

I was given the job of color scripting the existing piece and to try and make sense of an overall cohesive theme. I then developed a color palette that everyone could use for creating the last couple of scenes. I then recolored (several times) the existing scenes from past semesters so they would match the new color palette. I was also given the responsibility of doing the color correction on the final film (examples of this can be seen on the final color correction section under the color correction tab). Along with all of the above mentioned tasks, I also helped enter various After Effects files with special effects into the final composition, making sure they lined up with the correct frames and worked well with the existing project within Premier Pro. Because of my work, my classmates elected me to be credited as one of the producers on the final project.
Working on the Super project was a great experience. I really enjoyed working in an environment where everyone contributed and worked in areas that we are best at. I was also turned onto a new area, color correction and color scripting, that I previously knew nothing about, and found that not only was I good at it, but that i very much enjoyed it. All in all, this project showed me that I thrive working in this kind of collaborative creative environment, and I feel that I am definitely going into the right field.
Link to the Super film coming soon.
